NORTH CONCORD, VT - Stanley E. Morse Jr., 54, died suddenly Saturday September 12, at the horse pulling competition at Barton Fairgrounds. He had just won first place in his division.
Stanley was born in Los Angeles, California on March 2, 1961 the son of Stanley E. Morse Sr. and Jo Ann (Cauthorne) Morse.
Raised in California and Vermont he was a graduate of Concord High School. For several years he served with the U.S. Air Force. Eventually he settled in North Concord and on October 31, 2002 he married Maria Mullen. Most of his life he has worked as a truck driver and was the proprietor of Morse Trucking. Stanley loved hunting and trapping and for the past two years he has been an avid competition horse puller.
He was a member of the Northeast Kingdom Pulling Association.
Surviving family members include his wife Maria of North Concord; his children, Kristal Moody of Woodsville, NH, Emerald Guerra, Violette Guerra, William Morse, Autumn Morse, Grace Morse all of North Concord; his father Stanley E. Morse Sr. of Gilman; his mother Jo Ann Morse of Whitefield; two brothers, Wilbur F. Morse of Northumberland, Shawn D. Morse and wife Sonya of Lunenburg; two sisters Shawna L. Morse of Newport, VT, Charlene Torres and husband James of Littleton; and multiple nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held Thursday evening September 17, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster. Additional services will be held at the convenience of the family.
