NORTH PORT, FLORIDA - After a long battle of illness, Stephen "Steve" Douglas Kipp, 70, of North Port Florida passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia L. (MacKillop) Kipp, daughter Nathalie Rowlette, son Jeffrey Donovan, daughter Mary Crowley, daughter Pascale Edwards, his twin sister Stephanie Peltz and his brother Charles Kipp. He has seven grandchildren, Samantha, Brittany, Jessica, Hannah, Alora, Hunter and Madison and three great grandchildren Skyler, Keegin and Arabella.

Stephen was born in Lancaster NH on August 3, 1943 son of the late William and Mary Kipp. Steve was a graduate of Lancaster High School in 1962. Steve was a member of many organizations to include the Masonic lodge, YMCA, NH Alarm Assoc., American Motorcycle Assoc., Shiners, VFW, NRA, Boy Scouts, Valley of Nashua, & Provast Guard. He was a camp counselor in his youth at Camp Belknap. He was a SSG in the US Army (satellite communications) during which he served overseas and received badges and awards for his dedicated military service.  Upon returning from the military he worked at MaBell - New England Telephone for several years. Stephen was a member of the Lancaster Fire Department for 20 plus years. He worked his way up the chain of command from, Lieutenant, to Captain, to Assistant Chief to Chief. He established Kipp Alarm Service in 1976 and Kipp Alarm Service Central Station in 1984. He was the proud owner and operator of Kipp Alarm Service for 22 years. He was an avid motorcyclist. He owned several motorcycles over the years for which he loved to ride. He  enjoyed many cross country trips taken with his wife and grand-daughter Samantha.

Calling hours will be Friday, July 18th from 5 to 8 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster.  A masonic service will be held at 7:00 PM.  The funeral will be Saturday, July 19th at 11 am at the Methodist Church in Lancaster NH. Burial will be at the Summer Street Cemetery immediately following the service. The Lancaster Fire Department will be holding a reception after the service at the Methodist Church in honor of Chief Stephen D. Kipp.
