Suzanne Bissonnette

May 30, 1948 — May 12, 2021

LANCASTER - Suzanne Bissonnette, passed away on May 12, 2021. Sue was born across the border in West Stewartstown NH on May 30, 1948, to Bernadette (Dionne) Gagne and Laurent Gagne, but she grew up on a farm in East Hereford, Quebec along with her 9 siblings. Times weren't always easy, but there was never a shortage of love.

In early adulthood Suzanne faced many challenges, but she had a fighting spirit that matched all the love in her heart. She was the proud mother of 5 children and she loved them with all her heart. Not every decision she had to make was easy, nonetheless she always did what she felt was right for her kids.

Suzanne's working career was typical of her time and station in life and included various factory jobs.

In her 30's, Sue was diagnosed with Lupus arthritis and told it was a death sentence. She spent decades proving the doctors wrong, partly due to advances in treatment but mostly because Sue was a fighter. Adversity, whether it be personal or medical, had a fierce foe in a little woman named Suzanne.

Sue was an avid reader and thinker. She was always learning. Her great love was her children and grandchildren. The journey from 1950's Canada to 21st Century America is a long one, but Suzanne carried the love she learned as a little girl throughout her adventure. She loved, she was loved, and she will be missed.

Suzanne is survived by her 5 children, Ricky Bissonnette of Kennebunk, Maine; Steve Bissonnette and his wife Nancy, of Whitefield NH; Marc Bissonnette and his wife Stefanie of Thornton NH; Danny Bissonnette and his wife Denise of Whitefield NH; and Angela Bissonnette-Salgado and her husband Ramone of Grand Forks North Dakota.

She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Jove Bissonnette, Orion Bissonnette, Asher Bissonnette, Steven Bissonnette, Lucille Bissonnette, Chris Bissonnette, Emily Bissonnette, Amber Bissonnette, Raegen Salgado, Aerin Salgado, and a great grandson Terran Charles Bissonnette.

Her surviving siblings are Louise Gagne Couture and her husband Normand, Armande Gagne, Marthe Gagne Graham and her husband Gary, Bruno Gagne and his wife Louise. Having shed her mortal coil, Suzanne is now dancing in heaven along with her mom, dad, and siblings Andre Gagne, Rene Gagne, Jean Claude Gagne, Jean Guy Gagne and Monique LaPointe.

Visiting hours will be held Saturday, May 22, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster. A Celebration of Life will follow.
