LANCASTER, NH - Virginia A. "Ginny" Crane, 60, of Garland Road, died at her home Sunday evening May 3
rd
, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Ginny was born in Long Branch, NJ on August 21, 1954 the daughter of Salvatore and Charlotte (Kravits) Scott. Raised in Neptune and Ocean Grove, NJ she was a graduate of Neptune High School. After high school, she went to work for the Neptune TWP, NJ Municipal Court. She was also the court clerk for the Ocean Grove, NJ Municipal Court which was later merged with Neptune. She later also worked for the Ocean TWP, NJ Municipal Court.
It was while working in Neptune she met the love of her life, a police officer who also worked there. On June 5, 1976 she married Ronald Crane in a beautiful red, white & blue color themed Patriotic wedding.
After marriage Ginny and Ron resided in Ocean Grove for many years and while there Ginny joined the Ocean Grove First Aid Squad, became an EMT and was eventually elect as the first female Captain of the squad.
In 1989 they relocated to Lancaster, NH and a year later Ginny started working at Weeks Medical Center. She served in many positions and eventually became an I.S. Specialist with the billing department from which she retired due to health reasons. She also worked for Bruce Transportation as a school bus driver and a secretary.
She was a longtime member of the Order of the Eastern Star, first joining in New Jersey and after moving to Lancaster she joined the Olive Branch Chapter #1. She eventually served as Worthy Matron and was also appointed a Grand Officer of the Grand Chapter of New Hampshire. She was a 25 year member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Weeks VFW Post in Lancaster.
Ginny enjoyed knitting, crocheting, Nascar racing, camping, shopping, snowmobiling and spending time at their camp in the Averill Lakes.
Family members include her husband Ronald of Lancaster; a son Eric Crane and his wife Denise of Lancaster along with their children Grant and Liam; three step-children and their families, Sharon Lagenes and her husband Carl of Chesterfield, VA, along with their children Jessie, Jason, and Stephanie and grandchildren William Erik Vincent and Ezra; Christine Crane of Lancaster, along with her children Crystal, Kelsea, Francesca and Christiana and grandchildren Tristan and Colin; Richard Crane of Lyndonville, VT; a brother Paul Scott and his wife Diane of Naples, FL; and her adopted sister Denise Ploskonka of Spring Lake, NJ. Her parents Salvatore and Charlotte predeceased her.
Memorial visiting hours will be held at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster, on Friday evening May 8, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. An Eastern Star service will be held at 6:00 PM. A graveside service will follow Saturday afternoon at 2:00 PM in Summer Street Cemetery, Lancaster. Reverend Donald Williams of Lancaster will officiate.
