GROVETON - Virginia A. "Ginnie" Crawford, 89, formerly of Stratford Road, died Thursday morning August 21, 2014 at Country Village Genesis Eldercare Center, Lancaster after two years of declining health.
Mrs. Crawford was born in West Stewartstown, NH on October 9, 1926 the daughter of Wesley and Myrtle (Shaw) Mills.
She was raised in Stewartstown and for 20 years worked as a sander and pre-finisher at Ethan Allen Furniture in Beecher Falls. In 1972 she retired there and married Raymond W. Crawford and moved to Groveton.
Ginnie loved fishing, cooking, antiquing and in her later years word search puzzles. She was a devoted member of the Assembly of God Church where served as former secretary and treasurer. She will be fondly remembered trucking kids to Sunday School and Bible vacation in her red VW bus.
Surviving family members include her husband Raymond of Groveton; four children, Roderick James Crawford of Manchester, Gary Raymond Crawford of Tennessee, Sheila Mae Lovering and her husband David of Concord, NH, Kathy Dee Wiles and husband Dean of Groveton; a brother Albert Mills of Texas; two sisters, Ethel Goodrum of Colebrook, Eva Stevens of West Stewartstown; four grandchildren, Jamie Lovering, David Lovering, Loren W. Locke, Sabrina R. Zanes; a great-grandchild Julian Lovering; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband Willis Treffrey; a brother Waldo Mills and two sisters Mary Phillips and Dorothy Mills.
Visiting hours will be held Saturday afternoon August 23, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A funeral service will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 PM at the Lancaster Assembly of God Church. Reverend Seth Frink, pastor, will co-officiate with former pastor Bruce Lee. Burial will follow in Northumberland Cemetery.
