LANCASTER - Virginia R. Richardson, 88, of Kilkenny street, died at her home Sunday September 22, 2013.
Mrs. Richardson was born in Lisbon on January 6, 1925 the daughter of Wilfred L. and Mona (Coffin) Owen.
Virginia was raised for a time in Danville until her family moved to Berlin.
She graduated from Berlin High School and attended the University of New Hampshire.
Her life passion was working as a librarian.
For a brief time she was a librarian in the Berlin Public Library and for approximately 40 years she served as librarian at Weeks Memorial Library.
She was also an accomplished musician and was once first chair All New England on the clarinet.
Reading and knitting were her favorite pastimes and she donated countless items to the community Mitten Tree for years.
Family members include her two daughters Barbara Long of Oakham, MA, Leslie Richardson of Nashua; a brother James Owen and his wife Lucia of E. Stoneham, ME; 3 grandchildren; a great-grandson and nieces and nephews. Her husband Joseph C. Richardson predeceased her in 2004.
At Virginia's request there are no visiting hours or services.
