WHITEFIELD, NH- Virginia E. Ward, 87, of Sartwell Place, Whitefield died Saturday November 10, 2007, at Country Village Genesis Elder Care Center, Lancaster.
Mrs. Ward was born in Northumberland, NH on September 6, 1920, a daughter of Charles F. and Hazel M. (Barrows) Hodge.
Virginia was raised in Groveton and was a graduate of Groveton High School, after High School she married her husband James J. Ward. They moved to North Carolina in the 1960's, where she worked in food service for 20 years, returning to the North Country in 1981.
She was a caregiver of others and enjoyed playing Bingo.
She was a past member of the Groveton United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women's Club, and a present member of John W. Weeks Post 3041 Ladies Auxiliary.
Family members include a granddaughter Candace Reim of California and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by, her husband of 50 years, James, her son Charles E. Ward, and one brother and three sisters.
There are no visiting hours. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 13, 2007, at 2:00 PM at the Christ United Methodist Church, Lancaster. Reverend Dr. Thomas W. Bentum, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Summer Street Cemetery.
