Whitefield- Walter F. "Bud" Eastman, 93, passed away on Saturday March 10, 2012 at Country Village Genesis Eldercare. He was born in Whitefield on September 8, 1918 a son to the late Dana John and Lucy Ella (Henry) Eastman.
Mr. Eastman was raised in Jefferson and graduated from Jefferson High School. He served in the United States Army during WWII in the European Theatre. Mr. Eastman worked for the NH Liquor Commission as a store clerk for ten years and was at one time the Golf Pro at the Waumbek Country Club.
Mr. Eastman was a member of the VFW Post 3041 in Lancaster, the American Legion Post in Whitefield and North Star Lodge No. 8 F. & A.M where he was also a Past Master. One of the highlights of Bud's life was being presented with the 2000 Mel Gallup Volunteer of The Year Award at Weeks Medical Center.
Mr. Eastman was predeceased by his wife Evelyn Irene Eastman and his five siblings. He is survived by two daughters, Toni Farnham of Lancaster, Tara Kilby of Manchester, a son Dana Eastman and his wife Monica of Lunenburg, VT, six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren. He is also survived by three stepsons: Danny Lufkin and his wife Sherri, Brad Lufkin and his wife Terri, David Lufkin and his wife Louise and one stepdaughter Kathy (Lufkin) Edney and her husband Chet; and their children and grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to visiting hours on Thursday March 15, 2012 from 6-8 at Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster. A funeral will be celebrated on Friday March 16 at 11 AM at the Christ United Methodist Church in Lancaster, with burial to follow in Summer St. Cemetery.
