LANCASTER - Wayland C. Nutting, 83, of Heath Street, died at his home Tuesday afternoon, May 22, 2018, after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Mr. Nutting was born in Lyndonville on August 22, 1934. He was graduate of Lyndon Institute and Lyndon State College where he earned a degree in teaching. For over 30 years Wayland was an industrial arts teacher for Lancaster Elementary School. He was a former police officer with the Whitefield Police Department and for 30 years worked part-time as a bartender for the VFW in Lancaster.
Wayland was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. He also enjoyed Nascar racing, woodworking, and riding his lawn tractor; whether mowing or not. He was a member of the VFW auxiliary and a former local hockey coach.
Surviving family members include his wife Debra (Heath) Nutting of Lancaster; two daughters, Cherielee Nutting of Bethlehem, Stephanie Lynn Nutting of Lancaster; grandchildren, Colby Nutting, Hayley Nutting; one great-granddaughter Sophia Nutting and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son Michael Nutting.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
