LAKELAND, FL - Wayne O. Haynes, 81, passed away Saturday morning, June 3, 2017, at his home, after a long illness.
Mr. Haynes was born in Pittsburg, NH, on February 12, 1936, the ninth of ten children of Stewart and Hazel (Danforth) Haynes.
Wayne was raised in Pittsburg and in 1958 he served two years active duty in the US Army and four years with the Army Reserves. He was a long time North Country resident having lived in towns including Errol, Colebrook and North Stratford. For his entire life he worked as a truck driver. In his earlier years he drove log trucks for Burton Hall and his brother Warren Haynes. Later in his career he was a long haul driver for St. Johnsbury Trucking. He enjoyed travelling, dancing, bowling and visiting with family and friends. For many years he had a summer residence on Lake Winnipesaukee. Wayne will be remembered by many as a thoughtful and caring man.
He was a member of the Teamsters Local 633.
Surviving family members include his wife Judith (Steele) Haynes of Lakeland, FL; his children, Kim Plumley of Clarksville, Susan Brown of Arcadia, Michigan; Robbie Haynes of Spokane, WA; Kelly Connelly of Wyoming, Bobby Weir of Center Barnstead, NH; Shane Weir of Raymore, Missouri; 10 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Majel Hawes of Pittsburg, Beverly Jenkins and husband Barry of Colebrook; many nieces and nephews; and a two adopted daughters of his heart, Vanessa Morrow and Linda Brunelle.
Many years ago Wayne lost his first wife, Donna Travers of Errol, to leukemia. He was also predeceased by his sisters, Ramona Bilski, Glendowin Bunnell, Rowena Hann, Waneta Thibeault and his brothers Warren, Bradley and Keith Haynes.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday morning, August 5, at 11:00 AM at St. Pius X Church in Errol. Reverend Craig Cheney, pastor, will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow in the Errol Cemetery.
