LANCASTER - Wendell Albert Burke, 84, passed away December 15, 2013 after a long and courageous battle.
Born in Whitefield, NH July 28, 1929 he was the son of Benjamin and Lena (Kiser) Burke.
He will be missed by his loving wife of 27 years Marilyn (Lantigne) Burke and dog Trixie.
As well as his son Gary Burke of Big Lake, Alaska; three stepsons, Lawrence Lantigne of Berlin, Paul Patridge and wife Joy of Concord, VT, Jason Patridge and wife Marcy of Lyndonville; one stepdaughter Marie O'Brien and husband Mike of St. Johnsbury; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law Ann Burke; nieces, nephews and many friends.
He was predeceased by his parents; 2 sisters, Olivetta Eastman, Etta Collins; 1 brother Randall Burke; and his first wife Olive Ramsdell Burke.
He worked in farming, logging and retired after 39 years at Groveton Paper Mill working his way up to 1
st
Class Millwright.
He enjoyed stock car racing and drove car #12 at Groveton Speedway.
He also loved hunting, fishing, snow machining, four wheeling, playing with his grandchildren and hugging the women.
Gone but never forgotten.
There are no visiting hours.
A memorial service will be held in the spring.
