WHITEFIELD - Wendell C. Rexford, 81, of Colby Road, died Thursday June 11, 2009, at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster.

Mr. Rexford was born in Whitefield on June 23, 1927, the son of Carroll I. And Myrtle (Danforth) Rexford.

Wendell was a lifetime resident of Whitefield raised on the family farm there. His lifetime of work was a variety of farming, wood & pulp, and construction. At one time he was the largest pulp supplier for Franconia Paper in Lincoln. In 1959 he started Wendell Rexford & Sons construction and also developed the Meadow Mist Trailer Park in Whitefield in the 70's.

Wendell had many interests and they included bowling, golfing, hunting, fishing, traveling and snowmobiling. He also enjoyed spending the winter months at his second home in Spring Hill, Florida.

He was a longtime member of the Advent Christian Church in Whitefield. Wendell also served two terms as Selectman for the town of Whitefield.

Family members include his wife of 62 years, Marilyn J. (Smith) Rexford of Whitefield; two sons, Carroll W. "Butch" Rexford and his wife Marion of Whitefield, Larry D. Rexford and his wife Kathy of Whitefield; a daughter Kimberley R. DesRuisseaux and her husband Marc of Auburn, NH; six grandchildren, Sharon Duffy, Kelli Bradbury, Bryan Rexford, Keith Rexford, Alexandra DesRuisseaux, Danielle DesRuisseaux; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Everett Rexford of Lancaster, Rodney Rexford of Dalton; a sister Gail Cormier of Whitefield; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by, a sister Evelyn "Sue" Eastman.

Visiting hours will be held Sunday afternoon and evening June 14, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A funeral service will be held Monday morning at 11:00 AM at the Advent Christian Church, Whitefield. Pastor Lou Going will officiate. Burial will follow in the Park Street Cemetery, Whitefield.
