Wendy was born in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, and lived in Newark, Vermont, where she attended Newark Street Schools and Lyndon Institute. Wendy and I knew each other as children, years passed, and we started dating. We were engaged for two years and married on July 26, 1986. We lived in East Haven for two years and moved to Lunenburg with her parents, Charlie and Rachel Cole. They had bought a farm and milked cows for over 20 years. Wendy and I had Casey on November 24, 1987, and she was about one year old when we moved to the farm in Lunenburg. Wendy worked on the farm taking care of calves, helped with milking, and doing whatever needed to be done, and there was a lot to do. Wendy was taking care of Casey and raising her. Casey was a beautiful girl and Wendy was very proud of her.
Wendy loved the gardens and flowers and the changing seasons. If she wanted to make or build something, she was very handy and crafty. Wendy enjoyed carving Halloween pumpkins and decorating. Making Christmas wreaths and garland for the front porch was special from the smells of the brush and the chill in the air. Wendy and I had lots of fun decorating for Christmas over the years, and we made lots of decorations for everyone to see and enjoy. Wendy was especially proud when the Caledonian-Record had a picture of the decorated farm at Christmas on the front page.
The years go by so fast. Casey has given us three grandchildren. Wendy loved to take care of Lauren, Sterling, and Emberleigh Ann, who is now one week old, but I know Wendy is holding her. Wendy could not wait for the grandchildren to visit. They were everything to her. Wendy and I enjoyed giving out candy canes to the kids who came to the farm to see the decorations and lights at Christmas. Sometimes buses with older folks came to see the lights, and Wendy had Lauren help pass out candy canes then. She loved Lauren so much.
Wendy loved baking cookies and pies, brownies, fudge, and popcorn balls for everyone.
Wendy worked at a campground from 2002-2012 where we had a seasonal site for years, and we had a great time. That started us camping at other sites, Breezy Meadows in Concord and Lakeside in Island Pond.
Wendy and I loved to go to different casinos with friends where we always had a good time, and Wendy enjoyed the slots the most.
Wendy liked playing Super Bingo and going every year with her mother and her aunts. They also enjoyed kayaking together.
Wendy and I had a lot of good times snowmobiling. It was something that she could not wait to do even though some years there was not enough snow.
Wendy and her mom did a lot of things together, and they always looked forward to hunting season. Wendy loved deer hunting and bear hunting. She would sit in her tree stand from dark in the morning to dark at night. Wendy shot bears over the years but never got a deer. It was just fun to go, even if she did not get anything.
Wendy worked hard taking care of the lawns and the trees, mowing and weed whacking was something she did well and enjoyed doing.
“I” in this obituary is Brian. All the things that Wendy has done in her life cannot be put down on paper in a few words. I have tried to write down some of them. I have thousands of memories of Wendy that I will keep forever. I love her and miss her so much. She will be missed deeply by everyone who knew her, family, and friends.
