GROVETON, NH- Wilbur J. "Web" Barnett, 80, died Friday morning, May 20, 2011, at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster, with his wife by his side.
Mr. Barnett was born in Lancaster on September 19, 1930, a son of True Wilbur and Helen M. (Gallagher) Barnett.
Web was a lifelong resident of Groveton graduating from Groveton High School. He proudly served with the US Navy. He worked for the succession of companies at the Groveton mill including Diamond International Paper, Groveton Paper Company and Wausau Paper from where he retired. During his career at the paper mill he was the president of the Union Local 61 for 27 years.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but his biggest love was his grandchildren and looked forward to their visits.
Family members include his wife Dorothy (Reynolds) Barnett of Groveton, two step-sons George Nugent of MA, Brent Nugent and his wife Jane of Salisbury, NH, a brother Howard Barnett and his wife Pauline of Gorham, NH; 6 grandchildren, Benjamin, Amanda, Kristie, Michael, Matthew and Ashlee; 5 great grandchildren; and 2 nephews Brian and Jay Barnett. He was predeceased by, his brother Dean Barnett.
Visiting hours will be held Monday evening May 23, from 6-8 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A funeral service will be held Tuesday morning at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Rev. Richard Phillips will officiate. Burial will follow in the Summer Street Cemetery, Lancaster.
