LANCASTER, NH - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of William "Mr. Bill/Poppy" Dawson, who left us on May 19, 2023. Born on July 9, 1945, Bill was known for his warm heart, caring nature, and unwavering support for his loved ones.
His family and friends affectionately called him Mr. Bill or Poppy. He was a pillar of strength and a guiding light for those fortunate enough to know him. He loved the beach, hiking, camping, collecting coins, and the music of Johnny Cash.
Bill leaves behind his wife of over 50 years, Sandra, his son, Dean Dawson, his son James Dawson, his daughter, Heather Brownell and her husband Lee Brownell, and son, Leonard Dawson, who will all carry on their husband's and father’s legacy of love and dedication. As well as his grandchildren Justin, Stephanie, Elizabeth, Steven, Jarret, and Brodie, Ian and Christian, and Courtney, Cody, and Amber. He also had 16 great grandchildren and his many nieces and nephews. He was also fortunate enough to find family (multiple half brothers and sisters) from Maine, through Ancestry.com. He was predeceased by his parents, two sisters and two brothers. As we mourn the loss of a remarkable individual, we also celebrate his memory and the lasting impact he had on all of our lives.
May William "Mr. Bill/Poppy" Dawson rest in peace, forever cherished and remembered in our hearts.
Memorial visiting hours will be held Friday, May 26, from 2:00 – 4:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, May 27, from 12:00PM – 8:00PM at Poppy’s home on 13 Hill Street, Lancaster.
