LUNENBURG - William L. Dixon, 68, of Baptist Hill Road, died at his home, Wednesday morning, June 26, 2019, after a brief battle with cancer.
Mr. Dixon was born in the Graves Maternity Home, Concord, VT, on July 3, 1950, the son of Lester "Flash" Dixon and Muriel (Gibson) Dixon.
Bill was a 1969 graduate of Concord High School. He also acquired his CDL from White Mountain Community College and was a graduate of the Vermont Police Academy. In the fall of 1969 he joined the National Guard serving for 6 years.
In his youth he worked at Six Gun City in Jefferson and was proud of being a bad guy in the old frontier shows. From 1971 to 2006 he was employed at the Gilman Paper Mill and for 30 years served as an Essex County Deputy Sheriff.
Bill was a Free and Accepted Mason with the Moose River Lodge #82, Concord. He enjoyed camping, Karaoke, breakfast with his best friend Doug, playing Uno and spending time with family.
Surviving family members include his wife Carol (Dunn) Dixon of Lunenburg; his five children, Pennie Shaw and husband Rob of Lunenburg, Jeremy Dixon of Lunenburg, Adam Dixon and companion Callie of Lyndonville, Jennifer Vaillancourt of Hickory, NC, Tiffany Charette and fiancé Shane of South Portland, ME; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings Judy Fissette and husband Fred of Melrose, MA, Jane Austin of Concord, VT, Gerilyn Haskins and husband Davin of Sheffield, VT, Bruce Dixon of Lexington, KY; his best friend Doug Stewart and wife Leslie of East Concord, VT; and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at Bill's home on Saturday, July 20th, starting at 3:00 PM. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made in his memory to the Moose River Lodge #82, 134 South St., Concord, VT 05824.
