Lancaster, NH- William "Bill" Doolan, 76, passed away on Friday November 2, 2012 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his family. He was born on August 9, 1936 in East Burke, VT the oldest of eight children of the late David Doolan and Sarah (McHarg) Doolan Norris.
Bill served in the United States Army and was a pioneer in snowmobiling and stock car racing in the North Country. He loved to snowmobile and was a founding member and former president of the Lancaster Snow Drifters as well as the Pit Steward at Riverside Speedway for many years. People would travel from miles around to seek out Bill's mechanical expertise. He had a tremendous knowledge of people and history of Lancaster and the surrounding communities.
Bill was predeceased by his parents and siblings; Nancy Hamilton, Jim Doolan, Mary Ann Walker and John Doolan. He is survived by his wife Sylvia (Gilcris) Doolan, his children; Sam Doolan his wife Beverly and their children Kyle his wife Lauren, Trevor and Mallory; a daughter Kim Steacie and her husband Stan; a son Mitchell Doolan, his wife Jennifer and their children Madison, Morgan, Sawyer, Kamryn; and a special son Ron St. Germain and his wife Jana and their children Jake and Molly. He is also survived by two sisters Evie Wesson and her husband Dean, Judy Brochu and her husband Bebs; a brother Brian "Dusty" Doolan; a special brother John "Westie" Westover, and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Mass on Saturday, November 10 at 11 AM at All Saints Church in Lancaster with the Reverend Matthew Mason presiding.
