Loved and respected by all who knew him, Bill was in life a Husband, Father, Grandfather, Friend, Entomologist, Beekeeper, College Professor, Big 10 University Vice President, Runner, Hiker, Outdoorsman, Environmentalist, Photographer, Music Lover, Listener, Whistler, Enthusiastic Heel Clicker, Champion Dancer of Life.
Bill was kind, caring and thoughtful, a true gentleman, a Naval Officer, and an avid grandparent supporter of his grandchildren's athletic and music events. He served on the Lancaster Farmers Market Board, Weeks Medical Center Board of Trustees, the Jefferson Conservation Commission, Coos County Extension Advisory Council, and Weeks State Park Board.
Bill was a man who made the extra effort to be inclusive and attentive to the needs and interests of others. He treated all equally with great respect. Honest and ethical thought processes were hallmarks of his leadership style.
Bill is survived by Peg his wife of 59 years, son Ken and his spouse Dennis Harris of Windsor, CA, son Doug, his wife Andrea and grandchildren Colby and Allison of Oakland, Maine, three nieces Jean Erickson, Nancy Hoey and Carol Fischang and sister in law Rosetta Watson.
A celebration of Bill's life will be held at the Congregational Church in Lancaster on June 28 at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice.
