LANCASTER - William A. Luckey, 78, of Bridge Street, left to be with the Lord after a long illness, Saturday evening March 23, 2013. He died at home surrounded by family.
Mr. Luckey was born in LaBelle, Florida on July 12, 1934 the son of R. Floyd Luckey Sr. and Florrie Myrle (Kennington) Luckey.
Bill was raised in Florida and was a graduate of La Belle High School. He was employed for a time with NASA in a satellite tracking station. He has operated several businesses including roofing, lawn care, appliance repair and most recently worked at the Lancaster Transfer Station. When he moved to Lancaster in 1989 he met his wife Nancy, a teacher, while doing volunteer work for a special education class at Lancaster Elementary School.
Bill also enjoyed cooking, hunting and fishing. He will be remembered as a man with a real servant heart whose greatest love was caring for his family.
Family members include his wife Nancy (White) Luckey of Lancaster; 3 children, Kim Maddox and her husband Clyde of La Belle, FL; Tanya Pidd and her husband Dale of Michigan, William Carlton Luckey of Michigan; 3 step children Dan Hancock and wife Diane of Maine, Kristin Amarino and husband John of Bluffton, SC, Sarah Singer and husband Ronald Jr. of Northumberland; grandchildren James, Maddie, Joshua, Daniel, Jack William, Adam; and 1 brother R. Floyd Luckey Jr. and his wife Barbara of Lancaster. Two brothers, Oscar I. Luckey and James T. Luckey predeceased him.
There are no visiting hours. A memorial service will be held Tuesday morning, April 2 at 11:00 AM at the White Mountain Christian Church, Littleton, NH. Pastor James Anan will officiate. Burial will be in the spring in Summer Street Cemetery.
