William E. Savage

LANCASTER - William E. Savage 85, of Summer Street, died early Saturday November 13, 2021, at Weeks Medical Center.

He was born September 3, 1936, in Lancaster the son of Earl and Rena (Boyle) Savage and attended local schools, graduating from Groveton High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and after being discharged he would marry Jane D Towle on July 8, 1960, at the Methodist Church in Lancaster. The couple made their home in Lancaster and William worked in the woods for Groveton Paper retiring in 1998, additionally he worked as a self-employed logger and as a truck driver for Forbes Farm.

The outdoors was his favorite place to be as he loved to hunt and fish and spend time with his dog Buster. He also had tried his hand at racing at the Groveton Speedway. His memberships included the American Legion.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years Jane: A son William J. Savage of Lancaster, two sisters Marilyn Cloud and her husband Ken of FL and Carolyn Astle of CT; two daughters Wanda Avery and Tina Savage both of Groveton, along with nine grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held in the spring at the Summer Street Cemetery in Lancaster.
