JEFFERSON - William F. "Willie" Gray Sr., 55, of Kennett Lane, died suddenly at his home Thursday evening April 24, 2008.
Mr. Gray was born in Lancaster on October 27, 1952, the son of Dewey Alonzo and Mildred (Cass) Gray.
Willie was a lifetime resident of Jefferson. His work and his passion was always operating heavy equipment. He was employed with various companies through the years including 20 years with D. Avery and Son of N. Woodstock. His work was exceptional and he had a particular knack for constructing rock walls.
He had many interests and hobbies in his life including NASCAR racing, horseshoes, gardening, snow plowing, cooking, fishing, hunting, wildlife, card playing and four wheeling with his brother and friends. He particularly enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, especially times with his grandchildren like the duck feedings with granddaughter Meridian.
Family members include his wife Doris (Saucier) Gray of Jefferson; five children and their spouses, Scott and Sandie Gray of Whitefield, Gary and Mary Gray of Tallahassee, FL, Tara and Renaldo Green of Twin Mountain, Heidi and Steve Davis of Tallahassee, FL, William F. Gray Jr. of Jefferson; 10 grandchildren; two brothers, Frank Gray and Michael Gray both of Jefferson; two sisters, Roberta Gary of Jefferson, Barbara Sheep of Bloomfield, Ill; several nieces and nephews.
Memorial visiting hours will be held Wednesday evening April 30, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A graveside service will be held Thursday at 11:00 AM in Kilkenny View Cemetery, Jefferson. Reverend Dean Stiles, pastor of the Jefferson Christian Church will officiate.
