LANCASTER, NH- Woodbury Edward Knowles, 93, passed away on the evening of February 16, 2009, at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster.
"Woody" as he was known, was born in North Hampton, NH on April 23, 1915, the son of Leon and Marion (Drake) Knowles.
He lived in North Hampton N.H. most of his life, moving to Lancaster six years ago. Woody attended schools in North Hampton and graduated from Portsmouth High School with the class of 1934 . He was in the United States Army, Army Air Force Technical Training Command, graduating as a Airplane Mechanic and earning the Good Conduct Metal, Victory Metal and American Theater Campaign Ribbon . He was employed as a welder at The Portsmouth Navy Ship Yard and worked as a carpenter before retiring. He enjoyed spending time at his camp in Randolph,N.H., hunting, fishing and telling stories of when he was a boy working on his uncles farm. He also enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles and reading.
He is predeceased by, three brothers Robert, Leon (Sam) and Brandon
A spring service will be held at the Center Cemetery in North Hampton.
