Yvonne Youst

LANCASTER - Yvonne Youst, born in Kansas City, Missouri on January 1, 1927 left this world peacefully at her home in Lancaster, NH on May 15, 2009 at age 82. She was a beacon of light and a highly talented women, whose gentle smile, loving wisdom, and delightful humor will be missed by all who knew her. She was an artist, a composer, and an author, whose works will continue to inspire others for a long time to come. Her written works, prose, poetry, philosophy and humor, include the published titles, "A Collection Of Word Paintings", "The Journey Of Life", "Winter In New England", "The Peaceful Climb". She wrote many volumes of poetry, including "Snowgarden", "Waltzes Of The Land", "Yesterday, Tomorrow, Now", and "Comforting Thoughts" .She was co-author of "All About New Hampshire", "New Hampshuh Tales", which are in many libraries throughout New Hampshire, and the fantasy holiday allegory "Christmas Is In The Air". Her paintings have been exhibited in one-woman, gallery and museum shows. She was the owner of Counterpoint Gallery in NYC. Her art work was commissioned by Bloomingdale's and Tiffany in NYC, the Heritage Museum in MA, the Belknap Mill in NH. Her art work is also owned by many private collectors. Her vocal music, both classical and popular, have been heard on Public Radio, TV, and in concert in NYC and in New England. She is the composer of the CDs "Love Leads The Way, songs of hope, heart and humor", "The Sunshine Train, fabulous songs for children of all ages" and of the art song album, "On Love". She was the co-founder of Holly Publishing Company with her partner, Susan Ackerman, which published all of their books, her CDs, her art work, and their games, including the most recent word game, "Titles", given to the Weeks Memorial Library in Lancaster. Yvonne was the daughter of Edith and Lester Youst of St. John, KS and New Hampton, NH. She is survived by her partner and long-time companion, Susan Ackerman of Lancaster, NH. She will be deeply missed by her many friends and all who knew her. Funeral services will be held at Bailey's Funeral Home in Lancaster, NH on Monday, May 18, 2009 at 2 pm. Visiting hours will be at Bailey's from 1-2 pm. A graveside service will also be held at New Hampton Cemetery on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at 11 am. We wish to thank the wonderful Hospice Director, Mary Bates, all the nurses, aids, volunteers, and homemakers, Susan's Mother, Ruthe, and our very special friends for their loving care and support of Yvonne and Susan during this very difficult time.
